Sunday River Golf Club now offers an amazing and unforgettable golf experience for three players that we like to call... "High Altitude Golf." Imagine:

The day of your tee time, you'll depart from your private hangar at Portland International Jetport-- avoiding all the usual Jetport hassle-- aboard a well-equipped Bell 206-B jet helicopter. You'll soar northwest in climate-controlled comfort and over the gorgeous foliage of Western Maine until you reach your final destination: the mighty Mahoosuc Mountains and the Sunday River Golf Club.

Touching down just steps from our spectacular wilderness lodge Clubhouse (perched 1300 feet above sea level) you'll be greeted by James Gilleon, Sunday River's Head Professional-- a world class golfer, Tour player, teacher... and your personal host. Your group and James will first head out to the Practice Facility for a warm-up and some pre-round "tweaks". When you're ready, the four of you will take to the first tee and begin an unforgettable round at Golf Week's #1 Course in Maine. Try your best to keep your eye on the ball as the Club's always-jaw-dropping views are enhanced to an almost unbearable degree of delight by the magnificent fall colors of the mountains and the surrounding Jordan Bowl. At the conclusion of your round, you'll enjoy lunch and perhaps a pint at the Robert Trent Jones II Grill, discussing your day in the mountains.

When all is played and done, you'll say your farewells... climb aboard the chopper... and arrow south, once again treated to some of the best fall color on the planet as it passes beneath you. You'll return to the hangar in Portland exhilarated... improved... and forever changed.

The cost for this unparalleled experience is just $2,400.00 for your threesome-- price includes round-trip air for three, golf, carts, club rentals, your Golf Professional James Gilleon, lunch and beverages at the Robert Trent Jones II Grill and all taxes and gratuities. To book your "High Altitude Golf" package, call our head office at (207) 442-8725, or send us an e-mail. Custom quotes for nearly any departure point in the continental U.S. can be put together, as well. Wherever you're coming from, we'll arrange your flight and tee times-- in short, a day you'll never forget. Call or e-mail today!

Whether you drive or fly to our courses, we can offer you some of the best golf in Maine-- and at one of our state's most beautiful times of the year. Take in the brilliant fall color in the Western Maine mountains at the legend itself, Sunday River... play near the beaches and shopping of the Seacoast region at Old Marsh... or experience Donald Ross's 1924 gem, Penobscot Valley (close to world famous Bar Harbor). Off the course, a variety of classic Maine fall activities await you-- from canoe trips to apple picking, hiking, whale watching, shopping and more!

Multi-day, multi-course packages (which can include travel by helicopter) are available and can be customized to your individual needs. For information or to book, call our office Monday-Friday between 8am and 6pm at (207) 442-8725... or you may e-mail us anytime!

Dave Richardson Memorial Tournament

Help us honor Dave Richardson’s memory

Longtime MSGA scorer Davis Richardson passed away this winter, and we at the MSGA join the membership at Fairlawn in feeling the loss of such an ardent supporter.

Thanks to Dave Bartasius and the membership at Fairlawn, including MSGA Player Representative Bill Kennedy, we have collaborated on the inaugural Dave Richardson Memorial Tournament, which will benefit the MSGA Davis Richardson Scholarship Fund, which was established upon Dave’s retirement from the MSGA.

The tournament will be held at Fairlawn Golf Club on Sunday, Sept. 25 with a 9 am shotgun start. Cost is just $60 per person, which includes entry fee, carts and a luncheon to follow, plus tee prizes! There will be an optional 50-50 drawing, as well as optional skins and pins.

The tournament format will be the same as the regular MSGA weekend tournaments that Dave ran for years – individual and team, gross and net.

Please help us in supporting Dave’s memory by signing your team up today! We hope to have at least 25 teams participate and look forward to sharing Dave’s memory with all who attend.

The MSGA wishes to thank the Bartasius family, Fairlawn Golf Club and Bill Kennedy for all the hard work they have done on behalf of this event. We look forward to a very successful tournament.

MSGA Scholarship Classic @ Prouts Neck CC

The final MSGA Scholarship Classic of the year will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Prouts Neck, which has all 18 beautiful holes open for play. The Scholarship Classics -- together with the Charlie's Maine Open Pro Am and this year, the Davis Richardson Memorial Tournament -- are the major fundraisers for the MSGA Scholarship Fund, which annually gives away more than $40,000 to deserving Maine students.

This year, the Scholarship fund increased its annual award to students to $1,500 per year, good for four years of undergraduate study. This makes the scholarship one of the largest in the state given by a non-profit organization.

The recipients are chosen based on their academic achievement, financial need and involvement in golf. They also have to be good citizens.

We're very proud of our efforts on behalf of Maine's youth and encourage all of you to join us by participating in one of our fundraising events.
